THE RIGHT PERSON AT THE RIGHT TIME FOR THE RIGHT REASON

A lifelong dream came true for me in 2016 when you, the good people of Burke County, elected me your Sheriff with 72 percent of the vote. It has been my privilege to serve all of you and to build on the foundation so carefully laid by retired Sheriff Greg Coursey. I am excited to announce that am running for re-election in the June 9, 2020, General Primary.

As Sheriff, I’ve worked hard to promote and encourage a safer community. I’ve reinforced the core beliefs of protect and serve, I've set higher standards of achievement throughout the department, I've made great strides in bringing 21st century procedures and technology to this agency and I am proud of the way my staff embraces these beliefs and the impact they are having throughout the county. This culture assures employee satisfaction and morale.

One of my proudest accomplishments while in office is the team of deputies, jailers, dispatchers and support staff I have assembled. These men and women are some of the most dedicated, hard-working individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure to be associated with, and I could not be prouder of their daily contributions to our communities. I will continue to listen and support them in every way possible.

The political discussions that will take place between now and election day remind us that we live in a diverse community where we all enjoy the freedom of expression. While our opinions may vary greatly, we share common goals. Living in a safe community and creating new and better opportunities for future generations are goals we can easily achieve by continuing to work together -- despite political differences.

It is an honor to serve and I look forward to the next four years with great anticipation. Although much has been accomplished we have much more to do. I hope I have the opportunity, and privilege, to serve as your sheriff for many more years.

• Serve you, protect you and listen to you.
• Maintain justice at all times, while honoring the rule of law.
• Keep the peace and protect all residents of Burke County.
• Face the various challenges law enforcement officers and administrators encounter today.
• Uphold the Constitution of the State of Georgia and the United States of America.
• Work to constantly improve the professional standards of the Sheriff's Office.
• Always be accessible to you and committed to answering your questions, relieving your concerns and working with you to build upon the current community-based law enforcement office that will not forget who we serve.
• Committed to the utmost professionalism by using the latest technological advances, providing good coaching and mentoring, fair employment and promotion practices and by building and engaging community partnerships to sustain a safe and tranquil quality of life for all of Burke County.
